How to Grill Steak Kabobs

Sirloin marinated in honey and ginger then skewered and grilled to perfection with vegetables to make a festive meal. It’s easy to learn how to grill steak kabobs with a couple tips. Serves 4 Total Time 30 minutes + marinade time 1-2 hours

1. Always choose vegetables with similar cooking times, then cut them into equal bite-size pieces. Small vegetables like cherry tomatoes are best kept whole. Other vegetables good for skewering are; green onions, fennel, red onions, eggplant and summer squash.

2. Metal skewers that are square or flat are the best to secure food.

3. Fingerling potatoes can be used if you boil them 10-15 minutes first. Don’t cook them all the way or they might fall apart once skewered.

You can cook these on your grill, in your oven on a broiler pan or on a stovetop grill.

Ingredients:

Marinade:

2 tablespoons reduce-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, crushed

12oz boneless sirloin steak, trimmed and cut into 1” cubes
8 cherry tomatoes
4 lg mushrooms, cut in half
1 green bell pepper, cored, seeded and cut into 8 squares

Directions:

In a shallow dish combine the marinade ingredients, then add the cubed sirloin and cover to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Preheat your cooking method. Remove meat and discard marinade. Using 10” skewers alternate meat, tomatoes, mushrooms, bell peppers or any vegetable you desire. Place on grill and cook 10 minutes until browned, turning occasionally. On a stovetop grill add 2 tablespoons olive oil once heated cook 10 minutes until browned, turning occasionally. In your oven on broil, place broil pan 2-3 inches from heat and cook until meat is med-rare and vegetables are browned, about 10 minutes. Serve immediately with your favorite sides. Yum Yum!
