Steak with Creamy Orzo

This is by far one of my favorite recipes I have found.  This was advertised as a 10 minute meal, but the orzo that takes at least 10 minutes was precooked. I wouldn't cook the steak too early if you want it medium rare.  The ingredients per person are:

6 oz Strip Loin, Skirt Steak or London broil, cut into strips
1 Tablespoon sesame oil

2 oz of dry orzo is 1/4th cup per person, cooked 10 minutes
2 Tablespoons Garlic Butter paste or Ghee (I found it in the Caribbean section in Kroger)
But it is also available on amazon

1/2 of a medium onion, cut into julienne strips
1/2 red pepper, cut into julienne strips
1/2 orange pepper, cut into julienne strips
1 cup cooking cream or heavy cream
dash of cilantro
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Cook your orzo per box instructions usually about 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Slice the steak into strips cook to desired graduation. For steaks, common gradations include rare, medium rare, medium, medium well and well done.

Cut the onion and peppers into julienne strips and place them in a skillet with melted garlic butter. Add in the heavy cream and cook for about 2-3 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste then gradually add in the orzo. Cook another 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with a dash of cilantro. Dish out onto plate top with the steak and serve.

  1. This is one of my favorite meals. I've also used sausage instead of steak.
